The Shimano RT-CL800 Ice Tech rotors offer XT/Ultegra level performance, providing consistent braking through advanced energy control. These rotors utilise a revolutionary stainless steel and alloy 3-layer sandwich construction that effectively manages heat during use. The clad steel, alloy, and steel design allows heat generated from braking to radiate quickly through the aluminium core, achieving surface temperature drops of approximately 50°C. When paired with Ice Tech pads, surface temperatures can be reduced from around 400°C to 300°C, resulting in significant all-round performance improvements.
Performance and Design
The FREEZA design allows the alloy core to extend from the braking surface as a fin, providing additional cooling. Ice Tech technology ensures long pad life, reduced noise, and less fade due to improved heat dispersion. These rotors are durable, lightweight, and rigid, utilising the proven Shimano Centre Lock system for increased strength, security, and easy set-up.
Braking Surface
The precision-cut braking surface improves pad clearing in muddy conditions while aiding cooling under high loads. A large alloy spider provides a highly rigid and lightweight support for the rotor surface, while the super-polished finish ensures excellent braking performance.
